Your Oriental Arts Treasure Finders

NOTE TO ROOF TILE BUYERS:
We are sorry to report that we are currently out of stock on our Chinese Roof Tile collection.  Our importer has discontinued operation, and we are in the process of trying to find another resource.  However, this could take some time, and in the meantime, these beautiful tiles our unavailable.  Should this situation change, we will be notifying our customers accordingly.  Email us with your name and any questions.

 CHINESE ROOF TILES

Welcome to the Oriental Arts Collection where you will find elegant and unusual items of Oriental origin.  We search out highly collectible items by artists and manufacturers, as well as historical artifacts,  from all over the world.

Our Chinese Roof Tile collection by the artist J. T. Ho, is the finest we've seen of this genre in many years.  We have been collectors of fine Chinese Roof Tiles and porcelains of all types for decades, and we're truly excited to be able to offer this stunning new series of approximately 18 tiles.  (This number may change as new tiles are added and other discontinued.)  These museum quality tiles are beautifully executed by Mr. Ho, and reproduce some of the classic figures of the Chinese Zodiac and mythology.  Just click on any of the tiles in the above menu to view this lovely collection.

ANTIQUE KIMONO FABRIC PURSES

We are proud to introduce and offer to our customers this extraodinary line of handbags, clutches and portfolios by the artist, Loredana.  These are constructed of antique kimono fabrics, using a collection of different fabrics for each design.  These are "One of a Kind", so you must check with us by email to verify if one that is pictured is still available.

These purses are professionally constructed, and to each, Loredana has added an artifact of some type; jade carving, silver beads, bone carvings, etc.  These are true and dramatic fashion statements, and although we try to do representative photography, the visual impact of these stunning pieces is ten fold in person compared to our pictures.

HIROSHIGE WOOD BLOCK PRINTS

PRESENTED is a collection of ten Japanese HIROSHIGE wood block prints from more than one collection from which to choose. Only seven are shown. This offering is for one print, and the buyer has his choice. They are comprised of a number of different land and seascapes.

Wood block printing is a respected art form that dates back to the 16th Century in Japan. Color wood block prints were introduced about 1770. The process is complicated and takes strict coordination between the artist, the wood block cutters, and the printer to achieve the desired result. One block is required for each color, and all must be registered as to placemat so as to assure no overlaps.

APPROXIMATE SIZE One Panel: 13 3/4" H x 8 3/4" W

WOOD SCULPTURE OF CHINESE WARRIOR

We recently acquired this wonderful figure of a Chinese Warrior.  It was represented to us as the figure of General Kwon, a Chinese historical figure.  He appears to be doing battle with  a snake (under his right foot), and his left foot is astride a turtle.  I'm sure this represents a story in Chinese history, but we have been unable to locate a specific source.  However, we think that this figure may represent the following:

"Wei Tuo Pú-sà (bodhisattva Skanda) is recognized as one of the eight divine protectors in Chinese Buddhism. Iconographically, he appears as a majestic general in his armor.

Before entering Nirvana, Buddha ordered the general, who remained in this world, to protect the Buddha Dharma. After the death of Buddha, the relics were robbed by evil demons. The bodhisattva Wei Tuo managed to overcome the demons and recovered the relics of Buddha.

Wei Tuo Pú Sà is regarded as a devoted guardian of Buddhist monasteries who guards faithfully the Buddhist treasures and the objects of the Dharma."
